Wells Bank Announces 2021 Scholarship Recipients

According to Marian Wright Edelman, "Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it." In an effort to follow this directive, Wells Bank established a scholarship program in 2005 to encourage students in our community to further their education. Since its inception, the Wells Bank Scholarship Program has awarded over $280,500 to Platte, Andrew, Holt and Nodaway County Scholars. These scholarships are to be used towards enrollment at a four-year university. This year it was our honor to award scholarships to eighteen very deserving high-school seniors.

This year's recipients include:

  • Victoria Ann Allen, daughter of TJ & Erin Allen, from Maryville High School who plans to attend Missouri University of Science and Technology;
  • Sarina Marie Bertram, daughter of Jamie Armendariz & Wayne Bertram, from Platte County High School who plans to attend William Jewell College;
  • Cameron Brown, daughter of Perry & Amy Brown, from Platte County High School who plans to attend Eastern Illinois University;
  • Kylee Grace Cannon, daughter of Thomas & Anne Cannon, from Platte County High School who plans to attend Northern Oklahoma College;
  • Angel Belle Clark, daughter of Katie Stoops, from Savannah High School who plans to attend Missouri Western State University;
  • Malia Anne Collins, daughter of Dan & Mary Collins, from Jefferson C-123 who plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia;
  • Tanner Charles Martin DeHaven, son of Charles & Michelle DeHaven, from West Platte R-II High School who plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University;
  • Brooklyn Renay Herbert, daughter of Kevin & Brenda Herbert, from Savannah High School who plans to attend North Central Missouri College;
  • Hayden Rae Humes, daughter of Lara Myers & Matt Humes, from Platte County High School who plans to attend Missouri State University;
  • Sarah Eileen Johnson, daughter of Paul & Christy Johnson, from Platte County High School who plans to attend Brigham Young University-Idaho;
  • Drake Hill Lacina, son of Todd & LeiAnn Lacina, from Platte County High School who plans to attend Grand Canyon University;
  • Reese Morris, daughter of Colby & Kathy Morris, from South Holt R-I High School who plans to attend Missouri Western State University;
  • Rachel Ann Ottman, daughter of Bob & Wendy Ottman, from South Holt R-I High School who plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University;
  • Ryan Joseph Schultz, son of Tim & Missy Schultz, from Platte County High School who plans to attend the University of Saint Mary;
  • Emma Grace Shouse, daughter of Paul & Lauren Shouse, from West Platte R-II High School who plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University;
  • Cassidy Brooke Spire, daughter of Andrew Spire & Monica Spire, from Maryville R-II High School who plans to attend North Central Missouri College;
  • Sophia Marie Zimmerman, daughter of Alan & Suzanne Zimmerman, from Platte County High School who plans to attend the University of Missouri, and
  • Alyssa Irene Zion, daughter of Janel Zion & Jeff Zion, from North Platte High School who plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University.
Wells Bank looks forward to continuing our support of our community and its youth in their future endeavors. We wish these graduates success in the future and hope that whatever life brings next, they'll always push forward.

Wells Bank Scholarships

Scholarships for Local High School Seniors
Wells Bank awards $1,500 college scholarships for high school seniors throughout Platte County, Andrew County, Holt County and Nodaway County.

The scholarships are to be used towards enrollment in a four-year university. The scholarships will be payable as follows:
  • $1,000 for the first year
  • $500 for the second year
To receive the second year's installment, the student must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average during their first year while enrolled as a full time student.

Students interested in applying for the Wells Bank Scholarship must complete and return an application by April 1st.

  • Return the completed application to their high school counselor.
